Disenchanted is defined as being freed from illusions or being undeceived. I define disenchanted as a state in which I have been taken away from MY reality and placed in the society’s reality wherein I am given the freedom to make my own decisions and stand by them firmly. This word completely describes my whole on-the-job training (OJT) at 99.5RT.
The twelfth of April marked the beginning of an adventure that I shall forever treasure. Being assigned to a program called “The Disenchanted Kingdom” (DK) is probably the best thing that could have happened during my training. If I wasn’t assigned to this program I wouldn’t have met such awesome people; from the DJs, my fellow interns at the DK and the whole RT station, and to the farm which is composed of students that have applied to undergo the training of RT.

We also came up with a rule that for every cuss that a person says, he or she must pay five pesos. The funds would go to the scheduled drinking session which I had absolutely no part of considering the place I come from. Anyway, without these interns, my life would probably be, like what shampoo commercials say, dull and lifeless. So, let me introduce them all. I had an awesome idea and decided to put us interns in groups based on interests and bosses.
First up, THE LOL-ERS! LoL meaning League of Legends which happens to be a favorite game of these three. Let me introduce to you Arv, Rida, and Arlan. I was really intimidated when I first saw these guys and it was because they were talking in English about stuff I couldn’t understand and of course, LoL as well. These guys also love various US series and movies and they really really really get along well.
Next up, INKA’S BABIES! It’s self-explanatory actually. These guys are interns of Inka who handles the 50-minute Music Hit Blitz and the RT30 countdown. In my world, I classify these people as the upper class because to me, they seem so high-fashioned and elite-like. Meet Hanna, Kitel, Seitz, Gerty, Bea, and Mandy. They may seem to be like that in my world but in reality, they have this thing for recording themselves while doing random stuff and singing to a particular song that they use as background music.
Here comes the KOJI BUNCH! These people are basically the loudest interns among the rest because of the things that they are doing. They pretty much talk about anything under the sun and laughing is what they do mostly. We tried to stop ourselves from laughing but we only ended up laughing louder. Craziest interns, definitely! No plastics and just plain true and realistic. Here are Jannah, Janine, Feerica, Dexiee, and Karla. They are definitely the best people to hang out with if you want a complete doze of reality, fun, and lots and lots of laughter.
Now, here are the hard-core GEEKS! They have a very very long list of manga and anime titles and even DC and Marvel comics in their heads and basically are so attached to some characters that one of them even paid a hundred pesos for her to be able to cuss all she wants. I present to you, Gwy, Alex, and Mary. They just have the most random reactions to stuff and have the tendency to talk to themselves.
Next, we have the NOOBS! Well, another self-explanatory. I called them noobs because during my training at RT, they are the newest interns! I know I didn’t have to classify them differently but I just couldn’t help it. LOL So, the noobs are Dothy, Xara (pronounced as Kara), and Martin. Dothy and Kara are part of The Awesome Show which is hosted by Scarlet and Neil Almighty. These two are also random but different from the randomness of the other interns. Martin is my co-intern at The DK. He came in a few before before we finished our internship. He’s really the quiet type. Quiet as in doesn’t talk a lot. Not sure why but he rides along with our craziness and randomness. LOL
Last but definitely not the least because they are the most awesome group in the river of interns at RT in my definition, the DK ROYALTIES! Presenting the prince and princesses of the show that has more mayhem than what your radio is designed for: Princess Eula, Princess Kamae, and myself, Prince Elton. We are the research team for both on and off-air. We answer phone calls, take note of the minutes of the show, update the facebook page, post updates on twitter and benefit from everything like movie passes, free food, photos with celebrities, and on-air opportunities! We fit in with any of the groups mentioned above!
The three of us together with Martin are the interns of The Disenchanted Kingdom that’s hosted by King DJ Logan, Cleo Caliente, and Marf. Tune in to 99.5RT every Monday to Friday from 6 to 9 in the evening and experience the happiness that would make you feel disenchanted!
They are the people that made my OJT awesome. I will never forget the laughs, free snacks from Sir Koji like the tuna melt and halo-halo, the conyo talks, the so-called “kargahan”, the teasing, taunting, and all around pestering, the randomness, the collision of different worlds, free movie passes, photo ops with different celebrities, just everything!
Friends truly are everywhere! It’s just a matter of choice whether or not you’ll reach out to the hands that are reaching for you. ALSO a bright personality helps especially in my case since most of them came from the same school. Look at me now, I became so close to them! LOL
